Riley Coates and the RC Stevens Raiders got a notch tougher and Madeline Takahashi of Sturgis strided (as in looked
great) to a win in the girl's race.
RC Stevens again had 3 runners under 17 mintutes on a hot day at Ft. Meade. The Steven's boys scored 21 points
on the unseasonably warm day for running. Coates ran 16:15 on the course, followed by Damien Schuster of Sturgis, who
had maybe his best race of the season in 16:21. Thomas Kjerengtroen and Nathan Richardson were two other RC
Stevens runners under 17 minutes, finishing 3-4. The GDC Conference meet in Rapid City (Elks) will be a test for all
of the local AA teams.
The Stevens girls almost duplicated the performace of the boys, scoring a race low 22 points. Annie Pfeifle
of the Stevens Raiders was close to Takahashi this time to lead the Raiders, finishing in second and a few ticks
behind the outstanding Scooper Sophomore. Sarah Coomes of RCS was third, followed by Douglas star Bailey Eich and Sturgis'
Tara Potts.
Cheer on the local AA schools at the GDC meet this weekend.
